Why FWD Turbo Cars Can Be FASTER Than AWD! 🔥 #coolcarswithchris #carculture

Is all-wheel drive really faster, or can a front-wheel-drive turbocharged car actually have the advantage?

On Cool Cars with Chris, Courage and I get into a fun conversation about drivetrain differences, using the classic Mitsubishi Eclipse as an example!

Back in the day, Mitsubishi offered the turbocharged Eclipse in both front-wheel-drive (GST) and all-wheel-drive (GSX) versions. I remember talking to a salesman years ago who told me the front-wheel-drive turbo models could actually be faster because they had less drivetrain weight and fewer components to turn.

And it makes sense! Less weight, less mechanical complexity, and less power lost through the drivetrain can make a difference. Of course, AWD has its own advantages, especially when it comes to traction and launching from a stop.

Sometimes having power going to all four wheels isn't automatically the better choice!

What would you rather drive: a lighter FWD turbo car or an AWD turbo with better traction?
